Evanston AYSO has adopted AYSO National's short-sided game rules for divisions U06 thru U12, with a handful of minor exceptions. Please refer to the summaries below for your respective divisions. Also below is a link to AYSO National's short-sided rules. Where Evanston's short-sided rules vary from AYSO National's rules, the Evanston AYSO rules govern. Of particular note is the issue of goal kicks. Evanston AYSO has decided that for U06 and U08, the opposing team must start with its players behind the midfield line when the other team is taking a goal kick, in order to give that team a chance to get the ball out of the goal area. Once the ball is kicked, the opposing team is free to enter the kicking team's half of the field.
